You have to use A/C. Correct temperature is significantly important for some substances handling.

I don't know for sure, dioxane can be used instead or petroleum ether.

Hello again. Thanks for kind words. As I said, I cannot say for sure concerning methyl tert-butyl ether as a solvent, I guess it will be not so good idea. You can carry out an experiment in a small scale.
So far as temperature concerned, it is temperature, when the mixture is boiled (mostly depends on a used solvent boiling point).

That is BEAUTIFUL chemistry but so far removed from the easy, low temperature reductive amination from tryptamine, using the relevant aldehyde….

Still though, it’s pretty incredible to see what you had to go through if you wanted to try any of these before this low temperature reaction was discovered.

Also every time I see someone use a rotovap I do get jealous….then remind myself I do EXTREMELY small scale experiments- I’m glad to see you are using the same extraction system I do though! It means I’m probably safe!
