Hello friends, I am having trouble extracting meth from toluene. When I add HCl to toluene, I get nothing. However, I alkalize the solution before adding toluene.

Which HCl you add? Aqueous or gas?

Hello sir, I used both, both gas and liquid,pH around4-5
Of course, I don't know if it's right or not, but I add hydrochloric acid (37%) directly dropwise to toluene, but I did it mostly with gas and didn't get any results.

4 - 5 ph, as far as I know your ph should be 13+! At 4 - 5 nothing will come out! And then I put a strong 3 for 10 no more, if it is water-based. be careful with salt then there is removal, but with consequences! When evaporating with water, be careful not to have strong heat. I use distilled/purified water!

Question - Problem in extraction

After making the solution alkaline, I poured toluene on it, then separated the toluene and added hydrogen chloride gas to the toluene, but nothing was obtained and only the toluene turned pink. Please tell me what the problem is (the solution is alkaline enough).
