Hello, I used BMK powder and converted it into P2P. However when I added silica beads, it turned into milky white butter like.

Even the p2p in another flask without the silica beads turned a bit butter like.

When warmed up, it becomes liquid like but the milky white color is still there.

Is the BMK powder junk or ?

Picture 1, after I took the silica beads out. still white.
Picture 2. Silica beads and the butter white like, next to the p2p that hasnt been touch. however there is some small bits of white butter the next day in the untouched one too.

Your hydrolysis has not passed to the end, I recommend distillation with a steam for collecting a pure P2P, and the remaining the mixture is additionally hydrolysis (you can fit everything into one step with steam + acid hydrolysis).

Thank you for your reply.

I started with BMK salt 100g, I added water 100mls and got the ph1 with HCI acid by dripping. Heated it for 5 hours to 60c while stirring. My question is, should I have added as well some NaOH dissolved in water at the start? Maybe thats where I got it wrong.

I tried it with Naoh, 20g to 300ml of water. Added to the mixture.
Ended up with the same result. Oil goes to the bottom, not on top. even when warm/hot. Becomes butter like when cold. Any help would be great.

Let me guess, the oil goes to the bottom when hot and the water is on top. I had the same issue. Try it 70 to 80c for longer (12 hours or more), slowly the oil will go to the top when warm. That's when you know you have finished. All the oil is on top and water goes to the bottom when warm. Of course when the stirring is stopped. Re start the stirring when the oil still goes to the bottom.

Maybe w2x3f5 will have more information than me.
