Question Measuring out for capsules

Hi there knowledgeable people.

I am wanting to invest in a tiny capsule filling machine but am not sure how to go about sizing what capsules I need.

Currently I am taking MDMA crystals, crushing them to a fine powder, and weighing out 200mg and filling a Size 2 capsule.
I do this manually.
Production for me is tiny volume, I only ever need to make 1 or 2 hundred at a time.

So my question is this, how do I determine what size capsule to use if I want an even distribution of MDMA across all the capsules?
I was reading this post /threads/capsulation.387/ and there is lots of good info there but I guess I need to know the Powder Tapped Density as per:

So, if anyone knows the tap density of pure MDMA (well champagne at 84% I guess) then please let me know so that I can buy the right size capsules adn capsule press as the size 2 capsules are not filled so my dosing will be over and uneven...

Hi, I think it is quite hard to find such information. Do you mean bulk density? I think it is quite easy and better to measure it by yourself.

All I essentially want to know is what size capsule I need to use to get 200mg of MDMA reliably into it without individually measuring each dose.

If I measure myself, do I need to calculate the volume of compressed 200mg fine powder MDMA and then try to align that to a capsule size?

I mean I already know size 2 is way too big but do I go to size 3 or size 4 for the 200mg sweet spot?

There's probably far too many variables to give you a universal answer without some standardization. The amount of actual MDMA is gonna vary throughout the same batch for the same volume sample of 200mg taken one right after the other unless you're ball milling it down to a fine evenly distributed powder. You're straddling the line between apparently mattering enough that you're even thinking about powder tapped densities to not mattering enough to wash the safrole off it and ball mill and mix it with the right amount of inactive filler that it's 200mg in any capsule 200mg or more will fit in.

I'd rather not mix it with anything. Small hand made batches of fine ground (pestle and mortar) champagne crystals, nice white fluffy powder.

It's impure and champagne coloured which usually means there's unreacted safrole in there so why are you not washing it?

With your cleaned MDMA you could ball mill (rock tumbler with marbles or BB) it with an inactive filler. You calculate how much filler to put in so that a fully filled capsule of any size you target will contain 200mg or extremely close to that amount.

What I'm wondering is why it matters so much that it's 200mg and not "roughly 200mg" is 190 or 210 that much different? 200mg is an arbitary number chosen just because it's round. You're overcomplicaitng the situation to improve it slightly when it takes less effort and thought to improve it substantially.

I don't want to wash it as it is high enough quality and I don't want to mess with it and drive my costs up.
As for 200mg, yes, it is an arbitrary number and I only want to get it there/thereabouts because it is a good sized dose for anyone.
I think you are right and I am over complicating this, especially considering these are not for resale, purely for friends.
I have an analytical mind and like to explore how to do things correctly. If I had a lab, I would totally give washing it a go... I thought that 84% was about as clean as you could get MDMA (at least that's why the folk at GammaGoblin told me...)

Yeah, you're complicating things. Shred your MDMA. If you use extra fillers, grind and mix everything together. Buy the cheapest preparations in capsules at the drugstore. Remove anything extra from the capsules and try putting your MDMA in them. That's how you determine the size of the capsules.Then order the empty capsules according to the parameters you have chosen.
