I was wondering if one wanted to separate the beautiful pigments from root bark, but also keep the alkaloids or essential oil, how would on do it?
Chromatography?
I would want to extract the pigments first, to concentrate them for dying, and then the alkaloids... I wouldn't want to be using bases or maybe not even acids, as I don't want the beautiful purple to be fucked my NaOH.
