Ethyl vanillin to protocatacualdehyde, but scaled up?

High, everyone.
So I've seen the synthesis of ethyl vanillin to protocatachualdehyde, but one of them starts with one gram of Ethyl Vanillin, and the other starts with 10g and uses double that much pyrridine, which is watched, and most bees would avoid if they could.
Anybody seen anything on this process(and that isn't regular vanillin, that is harder to methylate with less yield, and maybe even more expensive.) that is scaled up in any way, even like 25-50g?

Ethyl vanillin (bourbonal) can be deethylated with conc H2SO4

This is much more accessible to the home chemist. And im to assume you will be methylenating with DCM :3?

also pyridine is easy to synthesize from vitamin b3 (niacin) esp using basic copper carbonate as the cat

I saw a video on that, and went to buy some niacin, so going to get some copper carbonate and try it!
And yes, using dmso/DCM to methylene, I believe, from an old rhodium post.

Yeah merlin had the best method iirc highly reccomend total synthesis 2s section on this.
Main thing to remember is just steam distillation tho best method for purification. If i may ask do you have the ethyl vanillin (bourbonal) already? :3

My friend has a bunch and told me I can get a hundred grams or so

Ya just cleave the ethyl wif sulfuric/phosphoric/hbr instead then

you have to do the stoichiometry you just can’t multiply the reagents, do the math based on the equation
