Hello,

The CAS 16648-44-5 is banned in China so is very difficult(not impossible) to get it there.

Some Chinese suppliers now are offering 16648 but they are supplying CAS 5413-05-08 is a very similar products:

16648-44-5: Methyl 2-phenylacetoacetate

5413-05-08: Ethyl-2-phenylacetoacetate

The problem is that 16648 is more expensive than 5413 and they are trying to earn more money saying is 16648 instead what they ship that is 5413.
They know that visually and by the smell they can't be differentiated and they are taking the opportunity.
There is an easy way to differentiate them, they have different melting points:

16648-44-5: Melting point 58-59C
5413-05-08: Melting point 140-144C

I hope this info help you to not be deceived with the product you have purchased and pay the real price that it has.

Important info:

Both have good yields, theoretically the same, but in my case 5413 give me less yield I didn't go deeper on it.
I have info that 5413 will be banned soon in China too.

Is the ratio of Phosphoric Acid 85% the same on 5413 as it was on the 5449?
