Synthesis of Prodines
This should lead to the first link, which is the general idea.
Alpha methyl styrene, formaldehyde, phenethylamine (replace the methylamine in the above pdf with this, been told this would work)
AMS starting from cumene peroxide, I think ordering cumyl alcohol is the easiest way, then dehydrating it as they say, with KHSO4, or I think phosphoric acid maybe. Or just ordering ams straight, but that can be somewhat watched.
So basically you'll need alpha methyl styrene, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, phenethylamine, and 37% formaldehyde.
That should be able to replace the alpha ethyl styrene, propionic acid, propionic anhydride and methylamine of the prodine synthesis, just do the proper calculations and sub in. The propionic acid/anhydride i don't believe have to be replaced, but the acetic acid/anhydrise produces PEPAP proper.
I know this is a rough post. But the general idea, assuming it works (told it does) would be a decent, relatively otc opiate. Granted, low yields, and the Wikipedia on PEPAP says the byproducts, similar to MPTP, are no neurotoxic. So that is nice.
